Use this screen to create and maintain indirect burdens or overhead allocations to be used with both new business and project budgets and EACs.
To access the Manage Burden Templates form, do any of the following:
Select Project Budgeting » Control and Utilities » Manage Burden Templates.
Select New Business Budgeting » Control and Utilities » Manage Burden Templates.
After creating the burden template, you can now assign them to a budget.
To assign burden templates to the budgets, do any of the following:
For Project Budgeting, go to Budget/EAC Processing » Project Budgets/EACs » Project Budgets Status » Burden Template column.
For New Business Budgeting, go to Actions/ Processing » New Business Budgets » New Business Budgets » Burden Template column.
The Burden Template column is only enabled for budgets that have a status of Working. Currently, this field defaults to the ‘Default’ template, which is the current or latest Costpoint Pools.
Click to select the Burden Template that you want to use to calculate burden for the new business budget or project budget/EAC.
Each budget must have an assigned burden template; the new business budget, project budget and EAC for the same project can have different burden templates for different versions.
You can modify templates even after they are linked to a budget. After editing the template, you can see the effects of your changes once you Save or Commit.
Use this screen when initializing Costpoint Planning or when you need to add a new burden template before creating a new project budget or new business budget.
Use the fields and options to configure the Manage Burden Templates screen.
Enter the burden template that you are creating.
Enter a description of the burden template.
To start a new line, click New.
Enter, or click to select, the fiscal year for this burden template row. Eligible selections include both closed and open fiscal years. Because each burden template can have rows with different fiscal years, budget templates can cross fiscal years. Each combination of fiscal year and pool must be unique to the template. After you save this screen, you cannot modify this column; however, you can delete the row and replace it with the same data but with a different fiscal year.
Enter, or click to select, the pool number for this burden template row. Each combination of fiscal year and pool must be unique to the template. Use the existing Pools in the FY chosen. Those pools are listed in the Pool Number lookup. After you save this screen, you cannot modify this column; however, you can delete the row and replace it with the same data but with a different pool number.
Enter the processing sequence for this cost pool template. This number determines the order in which the cost pools are processed. If more than one row has the same processing sequence number, the topmost row in the table is processed first. After you save this screen, you cannot modify this column; however, you can delete the row and replace it with the same data but with a different sequence number.
If you clicked to obtain the Pool Number, this column defaults to the corresponding pool description. The pool has to exist in the Cost Pool screen of the Project Domain. After you save this screen, you can modify this column.
Enter the cost pool budgeted rate. Costpoint uses this rate to burden project budget amounts. After you save this screen, you can modify this column. No rates default into this screen from the Pool Rates subtask of the Manage Cost Pools screen.
This column displays the rate format. For cost-based pools, % displays, and Amt/Hr displays for hours-based pools.
Enter the Cost of Money (COM) percentage rate, if any, for this cost pool. Costpoint multiplies this rate by the budget amounts entered for the accounts and organizations selected on the Pool Base subtask. If this cost pool has no cost of money rate, enter > 0 > in this field. After you save this screen, you can modify this column.
This column displays the rate format. For cost-based pools, % displays, and Amt/Hr displays for hours-based pools.
Highlight a burden template in this screen and click the Pool Base link to access the Pool Base subtask, where you can select the accounts and organizations to be applied with the budgeting criteria.
