Enter, or click to select, the Life Event code that the employee can select in the Life Events/New Hires module in ESS. If you use all Life Event codes from the Life Events table are available for selection. If you populate this field and a record is already saved in Costpoint (with assigned ESS modules), you receive a message indicating that the record already exists, and to use to access the record.

The description associated with the selected Life Event displays in the field to the right.

Select this check box to indicate that the record must be approved in the Approve Employee Life Events screen before the life event can be inserted into the Employee Life Events table and before the employee can go through the life event's user flow.

Select this check box to indicate that the Life Event represents a new hire event and a benefit plan's eligibility rules must be used to determine the benefit start date. If you do not select this check box, the benefit start date for any benefits elected as a result of the Life Event is not be subject to the benefit plan's eligibility rules.

Use this text box to enter free-form alphanumeric text that pertains to the Life Event record in this screen. When an employee selects the life event in the Life Events/New Hires module in ESS, the instructions specified here are displayed.

Enter, or click to select, the ESS module that you would like to assign to the Life Event code.

This field displays a Y (Yes) or N (No) to indicate whether or not the ESS module is part of the Benefits module in ESS.
