Set Up Employee ID Format and Defaulting
In order you use Costpoint's ability to auto-generate employee IDs when importing employee records from Deltek Talent Management, you must set up the employee ID format and corresponding rules for defaulting.
This process involves the following main steps:
- Enable auto-generate employee IDs functionality on the Configure Labor Settings screen.
- Specify the format of the auto-generated employee ID on the Manage Employee ID Formats screen.
- Specify the rules for defaulting on the Manage Employee ID Defaulting Rules screen.

You can enable the autogeneration of employee IDs for a single Costpoint company or multiple Costpoint companies. - Enable Auto-Generate Employee IDs for a Single Costpoint Company
Use this procedure if you only have one company in your Costpoint database or you have multiple companies in your Costpoint database and you would like all of the companies to be able to auto-generate Employee IDs. - Enable Auto-Generate Employee IDs for a Multiple Costpoint Companies
Use this procedure if you have multiple companies in your Costpoint database, but you do not want all of them to have the ability to auto-generate employee IDs: - Specify Employee ID Format
Open up and save the formats that you would like to use. - Specify the Defaulting Rules for Employee ID
Open the Manage Employee ID Defaulting Rules screen, and then set up the rules that will dictate which format is being applied to your company or companies.
