Contents of the Manage State Tax Tables Screen

Use the fields and options to configure the Manage State Tax Tables screen.

Field Description
State

Enter, or click to select, the state ID. State IDs in this field are validated against the State table. The state name associated with the entered state ID code also displays.

Effective Date

Enter, or click to select, the date on which the tax becomes effective. The format for this field is MM/DD/YYYY. Pay Periods having a pay cycle end date that match or are later than the Effective Date use the related tax table rates.

Filing Status

Enter, or click to select, the state withholding filing status that determines which tax withholding tables will be used to calculate the employee’s state taxes.

Separate tables are maintained for status. Refer to the Tax Tables documentation for a definition of each status on a state-by-state basis.

Tax Table

This table is very similar to the "annual" method table in your appropriate State Publication.

Field Description
For Taxable Income Over

This column displays each level of taxable income. If you need to add additional information, click .

Base Tax

This column displays the amount of base tax at each level.

Percent of Excess

This column displays the tax rate for the excess of income over the taxable income in the For Taxable Income Over column. This column supports up to four digits after the decimal (for example, 9.9999%).
